Chaplains testimony - Peterborough and Eastern Counties
Lawrence has recently been handing out copies of the New Testament to staff.
One young lady working at a station said, "I shall put this in my handbag, but it won't stay there becuase I shall read it often."
A driver suffering with depression said he did have faith but never spoke about it as it was 'personal'. Lawrence offered him a NewTestament which he gladly accepted.
A 'Trolley Lady' on a train responded with tears of joy as she accepted Jesus. She told Lawrence, "God sent you into my heart and in it you will always stay. When I kneel down and begin to pray, I will ask Him to love the gretest chaplain that ever came my way!"
Liverpool and North West England
Richard thanks everyone who supported te extensive carol singing on trains adn stations throughout the North West and at Euston during December. Many miles were covered and many carols sung with many places visited. God has blessed this venture and it is wonderful to see just how popular it has become. Many prayers have certainly been answered! 2009 promises to be an exciting time as further opporunities to extend God's kingdom arise. A further Alpha Course is planned in the Liverpool area. Later in the year Richard has been asked to lead a service to honour a very brave member of the, LMS railway police (now BTP) at Blackpool.

| | Ros Turner | 03/03/2009 10:10 | | Since this article went live Lawrence was taken into Peterborough Hospital as an emergency on 15th February following a collapse at home and diagnosed with a Pulmonary Embolus (blood clot between heart and lungs). Whilst there he wrote the following few lines about his experience and was keen to share with others. "I am back home now and taking things easy for a while before returning to my work on the Railways." Lawrence sees his work as a 'calling' from God - more than just the 9-5 - he is a real example to us. God Bless ya Lawrence!
Someone called, I heard no voice
I just passed out, I had no choice.
Someone thought the time had come
To call the old chap to his home.
The call was close when it came
But it was a call just the same.
The Book of Life did bear my name
But someone said, “What a shame”.
Time’s not right, still work to do
With all those staff on Platform two.
Send him back but make him rest
Before he wears his orange vest.
I was sent back and given a chance
My Christian values to enhance.
Now Life means so much more to me
What have I now but did not see?
Family, Friends but the most is love
Especially from my Lord above.
He cared for me but sent me back
To work for Him along the track.
I thank my Friends, my Family and my Wife
But most of all the gift of Life.
Lawrence
