Inspiring Christians to Transform
the Workplace and the Nation...

22 January 2010

Dear {recipient.first_name},
Showing compassion.

I guess that there isn’t one of us who hasn’t been touched by the recent events in Haiti. To see the desperate plight of so many people, injured, homeless, helpless and particularly the children who have been traumatised so early on in life. It is thought that nearly 5% of the population have lost their lives; the government has all but collapsed while disease, starvation and anarchy loom. Jesus was compassionate. But does compassion run in your Christian Workplace Group (CWG)?  Does your CWG have a compassionate action plan? Why not get your CWG to work with your organisation to promote and support one of the agencies collecting funds on behalf of Haiti? If your organisation hasn’t such a program then maybe your CWG could approach HR and do it on their behalf. Acting in a compassionate way is to show love – and love will get your group noticed.

Refusing Employment
27087The controversial Equality Bill goes to the House of Lords on Monday 25 January 2010. Under the new Bill, Christian organisations (including Churches) will not be able to refuse employment to someone even if that person lives a lifestyle contrary to the Bible’s teaching on sexual ethics. Baroness O’Cathain has tabled three amendments that will ensure that the law is not narrowed any further. Please pray, and encourage Peers to pass these amendments. CCFON and The Christian Institute both carry further details.

Radio dates for your diary
radioLynn Boulden of UCB has told us they hope to broadcast interviews from the national conference as a fortnightly series on UCB UK radio . Two have now taken place and the provisional transmission dates for the next three are Monday 1 February 10:40am, Wednesday 17 February 11:25am and Thursday 4 March 10:40am.
