Inspiring Christians to Transform
the Workplace and the Nation...

16 April 2010

Dear {recipient.first_name},
"What would you do to improve the experience of Christians in the workplace in the context of faith, the sixth strand of diversity, should you be in a position of Government after the next General Election?"  This is the question I sent to nine prominent members of Parliament just 8 days before Gordon Brown's announcement.  I've been told 'Don't hold your breath for a reply'.  Replies, if any, will be published.  Single issue politics might not be very helpful however this question about the experiences of workplace Christians is very important and the election offers a window of opportunity that we should not neglect.  Watch this space!

What's new!
Chan AbrahamOn our website home page there is a section "What's new?".  Every month we're adding new material and the front page provides a quick link to the material.  As an example, Chan Abraham, Chairman of Transform Work UK and CEO of Luminus, spoke on the Jeremy Sallis Breakfast Show, BBC Radio Cambridgeshire as part of their 'Stop the Insults' campaign. Chan outlined how 'not being offensive to anyone' is part of the code of conduct within Luminus.  Click here for the radio link and here for the "What's new?" page.

Code of Conduct
IMG0689rWe have just published some advice on running Christian events in the workplace that seeks to combine respect for others whilst responding to questions about our faith. It could be of great value to your company as it helps to increase communication, dispel ignorance and clarify misunderstandings. The basic principles of diversity are therefore to be both recognised and upheld throughout. With this in mind the following key points are considered: a) Respect b) Humility c) Courtesy, and d) Gentleness.  Click here for the Code of Conduct.  Feel free to use any part of it.

Churches and Church leaders
Church at workChurch leaders have a vital role to play in "preparing God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up" (Eph 4:12).  We have just introduced a new section to our web site that is aimed specifically at church leaders to help them encourage their congregation to stand up for their faith at work.  To see the new pages click here.

quote

"You will be brought before kings and rulers for My name’s sake.  But it will turn out for you as an occasion for testimony.  Therefore settle it in your hearts not to meditate beforehand on what you will answer; for I will give you a mouth and wisdom which all your adversaries will not be able to contradict or resist."

Luke 21:12b-15 NKJV
